The phone in the nursery never costs anything, on iPhone, iPad and Android. An old phone that is not signed in to anyone's store account works fine.
The Parent phone
Free for the first 3 days after pairing, then one purchase: €5.99 in euro countries, $5.99 in the United States, £4.99 in the United Kingdom.
Why no subscription
A baby monitor is needed for a couple of years, and keeping Moonside running costs us almost nothing: there are no accounts to keep and no audio that we store. Live audio goes end-to-end encrypted from phone to phone. Paying every month for something that costs us next to nothing per month would be hard to explain. Pricing in detail

Yes. With Moonside the Baby phone is always free and the Parent phone is paid once: €5.99, $5.99 or £4.99, after a 3-day free trial from the first pairing. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. Baby Monitor 3G and Cloud Baby Monitor are also bought once, but per platform.
Do I have to pay for Moonside again every year?
No. The purchase is one-time and stays yours. Restore purchase in Settings brings it back on a new phone with the same store account.
Does a second child cost extra?
No. The purchase is not per child. You pair a second Baby phone in a second room with the same Parent phone, at no extra cost.
Is anything still behind a paywall after the purchase?
No. The connection-loss alarm, the alerts, talk back, the soothing sounds, the Live Activity and the Apple Watch app all come with that one purchase. There is no more expensive version.
